Maritime Swamp Forest (Black Willow Type) – CEGL006348
The same swamp shown in the previous photo, completely drawn down and dry in late summer.  Water marks on trunks of black willow (Salix nigra) and swamp cottonwood (Populus heterophylla) indicate a seasonal flooding depth of about 0.8 m (2.5 ft).  Savage Neck Dunes State Natural Area Preserve, Northampton County.
