Central Appalachian Mafic / Calcareous Barren (Low-Elevation Type) –  CEGL006037 (in part)
The amphibolite supporting a complex of barrens on Naked Mountain in Nelson County is highly calcareous, favoring the abundant occurrence of unusual calciphiles such as eastern shooting-star (Primula meadia).  Naked Mountain State Natural Area Preserve.
