Piedmont Mafic Barren - CEGL006294

Diabase flatrock on a hilltop in western Fairfax County.  This is one of the northernmost occurrences of the community type.  Annuals such as false pennyroyal (Trichostema setaceum), common buttonweed (Hexasepalum teres), and awned flatsedge (Cyperus squarrosus) dominate the vegetation.
