Piedmont Mafic Barren – CEGL006294

Piedmont fameflower (Phemeranthus piedmontanus) was described as a new species in 2011, and Bald Knob in Franklin County is its type locality.  The species is known from only five sites in the world - four in Franklin County and one in Granville County, North Carolina; the Bald Knob population is by far the largest.
