Appalachian Low-Elevation Acidic Outcrop Barren (Cliff Saxifrage Type) – CEGL004524
A dry, acidic, granite pavement on the south side of Point Lookout Mountain in Grayson County. A more depauperate barrens community characterized by Cliff Saxifrage (Hydatica petiolaris) and reindeer lichens (Cladonia spp.) occurs here, where little to no periodic seepage occurs. © DCR-DNH, Gary P.
