Central Appalachian Acidic Boulderfield Woodland – CEGL006565
Although sweet birch is its most characteristic tree, the Central Appalachian Acidic Boulderfield Woodland is also the primary Virginia home of scattered, disjunct populations of paper birch (Betula papyrifera). The stand here is on north-facing sandstone talus above the North River and below Little Bald Knob on Shenandoah Mountain in Augusta County.
