The rock tripe Lasallia papulosa (in foreground), the white fruticose Stereocaulon glaucescens, and the brilliant yellow crust Chrysothrix chlorina are all characteristic lichens on the metabasalt nonvascular boulderfields on the Northern Blue Ridge.
