High-Elevation Greenstone Barren - CEGL008536
A High-Elevation Greenstone Barren of the Crescent Rock complex in Shenandoah National Park, Page County. The jutting outcrop on the left is a spectacular example of columnar jointing in the metabasalt. Additional high-elevation barrens are visible on the north face of Hawksbill Mountain in the middle-distance. © Gary P. Fleming
