High-Elevation Outcrop Barren (Greenland Sandwort Igneous / Metamorphic Type) – CEGL008509

The Greenland sandwort (Minuartia groenlandica) type of high-elevation outcrop barren is endemic to the Virginia Blue Ridge and known from only two rocky summits, in Floyd and Nelson counties.  Buffalo Mountain State Natural Area Preserve, Floyd County.
