A more mesic version of the Northern Hardpan Basic Oak - Hickory Forest, growing in somewhat deeper soil with a less pronounced subsoil hardpan.  Hog-peanut (Amphicarpaea bracteata), bottlebrush grass (Elymus hystrix), and flat-spiked sedge (Carex planispicata) are prominent herbs in the foreground.  Conway-Robinson State Forest, Prince William County.
