Land trusts in Virginia

A land trust is a nonprofit organization that actively works to conserve land by undertaking or assisting in land or conservation easment acquisition or by its stewardship of such land or easements.

Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF)

Although Virginia has many nonprofit land trusts that assist landowners and help with the acquisition of easments, few actually hold the conservation easements. The Virginia Outdoor Foundation (VOF), which is the commonwealth’s land trust, holds most of the conservation easements in Virginia.
