Job Description Position located at Shenandoah River State Park, Bentonville VA. Performs and/or supervises employees in the operations and maintenance of park facilities and grounds. Duties include building and grounds maintenance, physical plant maintenance and operation, motorized equipment and small engine repair and operation, equipment inventory and maintenance, painting, plumbing, carpentry, trail construction and maintenance, promoting good public relations, preparing reports, fee collection and enforcing park rules and regulations. Position responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and making cost estimations of park improvement and construction projects. Prepares material lists, obtains bids and makes purchases of supplies/materials as directed by supervisor. Assists with training, supervision and hiring of seasonal employees and volunteers in the safe and proper use of tools, equipment and proper maintenance of buildings and grounds. Ensures OSHA worksite regulations are followed.
Minimum Qualifications: Considerable experience and ability in maintenance to include: grounds-keeping, facilities, buildings, vehicles and equipment. Considerable knowledge and ability in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, small engine repair and maintenance. Ability in personnel supervision in a maintenance atmosphere. Knowledge in natural resource management practices. Skills in personnel management, including both staff and volunteer groups, and good public relations. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to perform multiple tasks within a given time frame and to work effectively without immediate supervision. Familiarity with OSHA guidelines would be helpful. Additional education in park administration, museum operation, history education or closely related field may substitute for experience.
Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Drivers License required
