DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless otherwise stated in the job announcement, to be considered for a listed position, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the close date stated in the job announcement.

Natural Resource Specialst III, Asst Park Mgr., James River State Park Closes 10/8/13

ONLY EMPLOYEES OF DCR MAY APPLY.

Position assists Park Manager in overall management of park and has primary responsibility for several management areas. Organizes, monitors, and conducts employee training. Supervises daily park operational programs such as fee collections, work scheduling, correspondence, and provision of park services to the public. Assists as needed with the park's enterprise operations consisting of a boat and bike livery, merchandise retail areas, cabins and campgrounds. Provides visitor and property protection through enforcement of State laws and park regulations, tracks and analyzes park work program. Hires, supervises and trains employees who provide visitor services and maintain park facilities and grounds. Participates in planning and implementation of management programs for natural and cultural resources. Ensures safe environment for staff and visitors. In absence of Park manager, has the direct responsibility for all park operations.

Minimum: Knowledge of grounds and facility maintenance and upkeep, personnel management, budget planning, and public relations. The ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate work programs on a seasonal schedule with minimal impact to the public use of the facility. Effective oral and written communication. Knowledge of natural resource issues and processes and regulatory requirements with the ability to accommodate them in facility management. Working knowledge of major trades and construction techniques. Working knowledge of resource management techniques, procedures, and guidelines.

Preferred: Degree or additional training/education in natural resources business management, park administration or related field.

Successful candidate will be required to accept law enforcement training and authority and live in park provided housing. Shift work, evenings and weekends and holidays. Hiring Range: $34,487 - 62,220
