2013 Seasonal Summer Employment - Smith Mountain Lake State Park Closes May 30, 2013
Closes On: 05/30/2013Smith Mountain Lake State Park located in Huddleston, VA has summer employment opportunities for the following seasonal positions:
Housekeeping Supervisor $10.00 Responsible for cleaning and maintaining 20 rental cabins and various other park facilities to include; restrooms, camp sites, Visitor Center, linen room. Includes supervision and training of seasonal work crews. Inventory, order and maintain linen supplies. Efficient cleaning and turnover of rental cabins. Pre-occupancy inspection of cabins to ensure standards are met. Ensure cabin and cleaning supplies are on hand for proper cleaning procedures. At times conduct morning park routine to open and clean facilities. May be required to train incoming camp hosts. Assist Park/Chief Ranger in annual inventory for master requisition.
Food Service Technician I $7.39 Performs tasks as assigned in the snack bar. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing/serving food and refreshments, washing dishes, and keeping kitchen area & equipment clean & operable. Upkeep of concession exterior to include sweeping the deck, cleaning tables, removing trash and litter. Responsible for weekly inventories of food and merchandise, and revenue collection for merchandise, food and swim ticket sales. Responsible for reconciling revenue for cash registers. During periods of slow demand will be required to perform restroom cleaning.
Qualifications: Must have workers permit if required, must have reliable transportation. General knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operation preferred but not required. Must be able to work well with other staff and park guests. Must provide own uniform (through approved uniform company) and must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. Applicants who can work from Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day Weekend are encouraged to apply.
Trades Technician I (Maintenance Ranger) $8.00 Performs the recurring grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate State Park facilities. Includes cleaning bathhouses, mowing grass, raking/removing leaf litter, trash and litter removal, cleaning campsites, cabins, meeting facility, linen storage building and office, cutting and bundling firewood for merchandise sales. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools required.
Qualifications: Must be 16 years old, have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Cleaning experience is preferred. Must provide own uniform (through approved uniform supply company) and be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Administrative & Office Specialist I (Contact Ranger) $7.25 Provides information regarding state park services and other local attractions. Provides coverage at the parks contact station and park office. Collects appropriate fees and registers overnight cabin/camper guests. Required to operate a computer, cash register, fax machine, laminator, handheld radio & multi line phone system. Position provides accurate and detailed information on the campsite and cabin reservation procedures/information, park fees, directions, pricing, annual passes, trail information, park interpretive programs, and local area information. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, copying, and typing correspondence.
Qualifications: Must have workers permit if required, must have reliable transportation. General knowledge of office and computer operations preferred and ability to meet/work well with the general public. Must be able to reconcile register and perform daily register transactions. Must provide own uniform (through approved uniform supply company) and must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. Both day and night shift positions are needed.
All positions are at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year. All positions require weekends and/or holidays
