Information Technology Specialist II, Central Office, (DCR Employees Only #00014 Closes 3/25/2013

Job description:

Successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the specification, installation, testing, and maintenance of computers, computer systems, and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Duties include supporting agency staff in the use of computer hardware and software and any related technology not provided by VITA. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems to diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve issues as well as training agency staff on use and maintenance of software/hardware. Majority of duties must be managed independently and require initiative and excellent customer service skills.

Min Qualifications:

Professional knowledge of principles and practices of information technology including thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, networking, hardware and Microsoft Office Software. Experience setting up and configuring network printers. Knowledge of database management systems connectivity issues (i.e. Oracle, SQL Servers) and ability to troubleshoot issues from basic to complex. Excellent communications skills to provide analysis and solutions to agency non-technical staff. Ability to work under pressure alone or as part of a team using a patient and methodical approach to situations. Commitment to keep current with IT developments.

Graduation from an accredited technical college or university with major course work in information technology. Certification in Microsoft products. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may be substituted for education, certifications or experience.

Hiring Range: $40,959-$55,000 Closes 3/25/13
