*ALL POSITIONS REQUIRE SHIFT WORK INCLUDING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS ON A ROTATING SCHEDULE.*•Grounds Worker (Maintenance)- Maintains park building and grounds by performing multiple routine tasks such as: mowing/ trimming grass with push mower, weedeater, commercial riding mowers, brush cutters and tractors; trimming branches and removing brush with various hand and power tools; cleaning restrooms and buildings to park standards; removing trash from grounds and trash cans; report repair needs as required to supervisor; conduct post rental inspections of buildings to ensure cleanliness of facilities; provide customer information as required to ensure excellence in customer service; work with grounds workers to ensure completion of tasks; assist team leader with supervision to ensure completion of assignments; light equipment and vehicle maintenance; trail maintenance and repair; Communicate as needed over park two way radio system Previous experience with landscaping or custodial experience preferred, applicant must have the ability to understand simple verbal and written instructions, work in team environment, attend mandatory paid training, to comply with OSHA requirements applicants must be 18 years of age. PAY RATE $8.50- $10.50 per hour
•Office Services Aide (Cashier)- Work in Park Office or Park Contact Station performing various tasks such as: collect revenue from park visitors, operate cash register to conduct sales of merchandise and facility rentals, register campers, conduct sales of State Fishing and Hunting Licenses, answer park telephones, use various types of office equipment, provide customer information as requested either verbally or in writing, communicate with park staff as needed to ensure relaying of information using telephones, two way radios or other means. Previous experience not required, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, basic knowledge of computers and office equipment, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $8.00-$10.50 per hour
•Pool Attendant- Work at park aquatic facility on pool deck and at boat ramp. Work includes assisting park patrons to ensure a safe recreational environment to include watching pool play areas, water slides, wading pools and fountain deck, load and unload rental boats, issue life vests, position involves cleaning restrooms, facilities, cleaning rental boats, picking up trash. Previous experience not required, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $7.50-$9.50 per hour
•Lifeguard- Work at park aquatic facility to ensure safety of pool patrons through enforcing rules and regulations. Applicant must be certified by the American Red Cross in Life guarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, depending on number of qualified applicants park may have training class. Work includes supervising swimmers and pool patrons from an elevated platform or from pool deck, administers first aid as required to the level of their training, participating in weekly skills tests as required, clean restrooms, pool deck, facilities, trash removal. DEPARTMENTAL POLICY REQUIRES LIFEGUARDS TO BE 16 OR OLDER. Certification in ARC or YMCA lifeguarding required, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $8.50-$10.50 per hour
•Chief Lifeguard- Work at park aquatic facility to ensure safety of pool patrons through enforcing rules and regulations and supervising assignments and rotations of lifeguards and pool attendants. Applicant must be certified by the American Red Cross in Life guarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, depending on number of qualified applicants park may have training class. Work includes supervising swimmers and pool patrons from an elevated platform or from pool deck, administers first aid as required to the level of their training, conduct hourly water sample test, participating in weekly skills tests as required, clean restrooms, pool deck, facilities, trash removal. May be required to learn pool pump/ filter operations & operation of STRANCO Impact and STRANCO system 4. A minimum of three years experience as an ARC or YMCA certified lifeguard, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $10.50-$12.50 per hour
•Office Services Aide (Cashier)- Work in multiple locations as assigned to include Pool Ticket Booth, Pool Snack Bar, Boat rental area, Amphitheater & Camp store. Greet customers, operate cash register sales point, and collect state funds through sales of merchandise, entrance fees, and food / beverage or rental fees. Provide customer information as requested either verbally or in writing, communicate with park staff as needed to ensure relaying of information using telephones, two way radios or other means. Previous experience not required, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, basic knowledge of computers and office equipment, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $8.00-$10.50 per hour
•Food Cook- Work in park snack bar and prepares food as required. Adheres to VA Department of Health regulations and serve safe practices. Safely and efficiently operates various cooking implements to include knives & other sharp instruments, various types of ovens, hot dog rollers, microwaves. Cleans and sanitizes entire work area daily at a minimum. ServeSafe certification a plus. Previous experience not required, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, basic knowledge of food preparation equipment, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $9.25-$11.25 per hour
•Assistant Aquatic Facility Manager- Assists Aquatic Facility Manager with supervising daily operations of aquatic facility- ensures adequate staffing levels for all pool employees, ensures that all employees adhere to all policies and regulations, ensures staff complete all assignments as required, ensures proper operation of cash registers to include reconciling end of day till for all sales points, prepares daily revenue report, oversee food preparation and stocking levels, ensures adequate customer service and satisfaction by effectively handling customer complaints. Assist with, participate in or direct weekly skills test for all pool deck employees as required. Applicant should have a basic knowledge of Business Management / supervision principles, strong ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision and conduct routine chemical water tests. May be required to learn pool pump/ filter operations & operation of STRANCO Impact and STRANCO system 4. Previous experience in ANY type of supervision required. Previous experience in food or recreational operations required. Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing, ability to lead and work in a team environment, must attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $13.50- $15.00
•Park Interpreter- Leading Environmental Education programs, including, but not limited to summer camps, birthday parties, public and private school programs, daycare groups, canoe and kayak trips, campfire programs, roving ranger, craft workshops and guided hikes. Program research and development. Assisting visitors with information about both the nature center and the park. Ability to identify common flora and fauna of the park and surrounding area. Ability to familiarize themselves with the trails and waterways within the park. Assisting in the supervision of volunteers for the interpretive programs. Developing special exhibits for the Nature Center and for park kiosks and assuring park kiosks information is up to date. Maintaining all interpretive resources and ensuring they are in good working order. Staffing interpretive booths during park events, such as Pocahontas Premieres. Assisting with the care and maintenance of all animals on exhibit and their habitats. Assisting with the cleaning of the nature center. Previous education or experience in Biology or other sciences preferred, applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, REQUIRES OPERATING STATE OWNED MOTOR VEHICLES, A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED, basic knowledge of computers and office equipment, ability to work in a team environment, attend mandatory paid training. PAY RATE $8.50-$10.00 per hour
