The following DCR positions are being recruited. Unless otherwise stated in the job announcement, to be considered for a listed position, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the close date stated in the job announcement.

2013 Seasonal Summer Employment, – First Landing State Park, Open Until Filled

First Landing State Park on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach has summer employment opportunities for Maintenance Rangers, Housekeepers, Park Interpreters and Contact Rangers. All positions may require working days, evenings and holidays.

Contact Rangers – Assists park visitors by providing information on the park's facilities and programs along with local points of interest and attractions in the area. Operates cash register and collects appropriate user fees while maintaining required revenue accounting and reporting forms. Performs registration procedures for campers and cabin guests using Reserveamerica computer software. Answers incoming phone calls providing requested information or redirects the caller to the appropriate office. Must have valid motor vehicle operator's license. May be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on nonrecurring basis.

Maintenance Rangers – performs routine building and grounds maintenance including mowing and trimming grass around buildings, campground, and cabins and removing litter throughout the park. May assist in light construction, electrical and plumbing projects. Must have valid motor vehicle operator's license. May be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on nonrecurring basis.

Housekeepers – responsible for cleaning and preparing cabins and campground bathhouses, and doing laundry for cabin linens. Must have valid motor vehicle operator’s license. May be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on nonrecurring basis.

Park Interpreters – plans and presents a variety of programs focusing on the natural, environmental, historic and cultural features of First Landing State Park. Programs will include campfires, nature crafts, environmental education, recreational activities and outdoor skills. Must have valid motor vehicle operator’s license. May be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on nonrecurring basis.
