Chief Ranger Visitor Experience
(Education Support Specialist II) POSITION #00975
Hiring Range: $34,340 - $55,746 BAND 3
Location: Pocahontas State Park: Chesterfield Co. VA.

Pocahontas State Park is seeking applicants for Chief Ranger Visitor Experience. The CR VE supports the mission of Pocahontas State Park to conserve, protect, enhance, and advocate the wise use and enjoyment of the Commonwealth's unique natural, cultural, and historic resources. This position develops and manages all aspects of special events, interpretive programming, environmental education, and visitor experience programming on site and as outreach initiatives including program budgeting, implementation, marketing, presentation, and evaluation. This position is also responsible for hiring wage employees and volunteers and supervising, and assisting them in the maintenance and operation of park facilities for educational purposes.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge skills and abilities to develop, implement, and present effective interpretive programs about natural, cultural, and historical resources. Demonstrated experience working in a team environment, and possess demonstrated experience to schedule and supervise employees and volunteers in the general maintenance of grounds, trails and natural areas. Demonstrated experience and abilities to establish and evaluate marketing partnership with local entities and the general public to ensure positive relationships are achieved. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to create effective marketing materials. Demonstrated experience providing customer service to the public in a courteous professional manner. Previous demonstrated experience participating in the development and oversight of program budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:
A four-year college degree with an area of study to include environmental studies, history, cultural studies or a related field, or sufficient experience and training to successfully perform the essentially functions of this position. Considerable demonstrated work experience related to natural resource management, park management, or related natural resource field. Considerable training or coursework related to communications or public relations. Certified interpretive guide through National Association of Interpretation or equivalent interpretive/education certification and training and experience. Certification in First Aid, AED, and CPR.

Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license. Position requires working day, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts
