2013 Seasonal Summer Employment, Lifeguards – Chippokes Plantation State Park, Open Until Filled

CHIEF LIFEGUARDDUTIES: Supervise daily activities of lifeguards and pool complex. Schedule lifeguardS to work staggering shifts to support pool bather load. Coordinate with the Business Manager to provide swim lesson for all levels, and assist with the development of a junior lifeguard program. Periodically review lifeguards skills & proficiency level of to ensure they can adequately demonstrate various rescue techniques. Assist with backwashing, water balancing and facility maintenance. Enforce all pool complex rules and codes, and ensure the safety and well being of park guests. Must be willing to work weekends & holidays. Must provide own uniform.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, and current First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer. skills, knowledge of swimming pool operations and ability to work harmoniously with public and park staff while enforcing all swimming pool rules, codes, and regulations. Must possess physical ability/dexterity to perform all physical aspects of this position. Previous Supervisory work experience preferred.
COMPENSATION: Commences at $9.00 per hour (Salary is Negotiable)
Training: The successful applicant will be required to attend and successfully complete the following paid training seminars:
•Chippokes Employee Orientation and Safety Training, Saturday, May 14 (8 hours) •Va. State Parks FOCUS for Excellence in Customer Service (TBA)

LIFEGUARD
DUTIES: Performs lifeguard duties at Chippokes Plantation State Park swimming facility to ensure safety and protection of pool guests. Other duties include, but are not limited to, pool cleaning, bathhouse cleaning, Must be willing to work weekends & holidays. Must provide own uniform.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, and current First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer. Knowledge of swimming pool operations preferred. Ability to work harmoniously with public and park staff while enforcing all swimming pool rules, codes, and regulations. Must possess physical ability/dexterity to perform all physical aspects of this position.
COMPENSATION: Commences at $7.10 per hour (Salary is Negotiable)
