DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless otherwise stated in the job announcement, to be considered for a listed position, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the close date stated in the job announcement.

2013 Seasonal Summer Employment, Staunton River State Park Closes 3/22/13

ALL POSITIONS REQUIRE SHIFT WORK INCULDING NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS ON A ROTATING SCHEDULE.

ALL EMPLOYEES REQUIRED TO ATTEND SEVERAL MANDATORY DAYS OF TRAINING PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SUMMER SEASON.

Parks Lifeguard- Safeguards and regulates the conduct of patrons to prevent unsafe practices and accidents; is alert to note possible swimmers in distress. Strictly enforces policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons and promptly warns users of existing safety hazards. Performs rescues and appropriate follow-up procedures, including the use of any available equipment in the performance of First Aid/CPR. Responsible for cleaning area surrounding pool facility, trash/litter pickup, sweeping sidewalks, & cleaning restrooms. Successful candidate must obtain Lifeguard Certification, First Aid and CPR/AED training. APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 22

Food Service Technician I- Performs tasks as assigned in the snack bar. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing/serving food and refreshments, washing dishes, and keeping kitchen area & equipment clean & operable. Upkeep of concession facility to include sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, and removing trash. Responsible for weekly inventories of food and merchandise, and revenue collection for merchandise, food and swim ticket sales. Responsible for reconciling revenue for two cash registers. During periods of slow demand will be required to perform restroom cleaning. APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 22

Contact Ranger/Receptionist- Duties include, but are not limited to, upkeep of gift shop appearance, office and restroom cleaning, answering phones, cleaning of visitor center, cabin/campground registration, collection of fees, customer relations and some computer work. Position works in both the Visitor Center and Contact Station. Position is seasonal and works from mid May until beginning of September. APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 22

Trades Technician I- Position duties include: Performing recurring grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and general maintenance tasks associated with building care. Supervising maintenance crews and volunteers to complete daily, weekly, and monthly work list. Daily work task include general facility maintenance, mowing grass, trash and litter removal, debris cleanup, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, tractors, lawn mowers, and other maintenance equipment required. Previous experience in supervising employees or volunteer preferred. Maintenance Ranger- Position duties include: Performing recurring grounds care, routine building maintenance, minor construction repairs, and general maintenance tasks associated with grounds care, building care, and equipment maintenance.
