Education Support Spec I (Wage Position) Chippokes Plantation State Park Closes 1/25/13

Education Support Specialist I:Collections Manager

DUTIES Manage and implement the inventorying, cataloging, accessioning and preserving of artifacts at Chippokes Plantation State Park Collections include thousands of artifacts from paper documents to farm machinery. Organize artifact records and maintain Past Perfect computer database and scan items for reference.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Enthusiasm for Chippokes Plantation State Park and Surry County history and culture; ability to organize both written and computer information, ability to take basic measurements and write detailed descriptions. Experience in Past Perfect Database, Chenhall's Nomenclature System, and other standard museum practices highly desirable. Good customer service skills and the ability to supervise and work with people of diverse ages and backgrounds a must. A valid Virginia driver's license is required.

EDUCATION: High school graduate with office, library, or museum experience; computer skills a must. College classes in computer, history, museum, or education field helpful. PAY RATE: $9.65 – $16.47 (Commiserate with Experience)


This is a 1500 hour wage position and does not have benefits
